It is his very heart to give of himself in all of the ways he is gifted to do so that led him to the founding and creation of The Proviso Area Worship Singers (P.A.W.S.) as a high school student at Proviso West High School in Hillside, Illinois. As aresult of his excellence in leadership, his legacy continues as this choir thrives as an active present-day student organization. It is no secret that Daniel X. The Masterful Musician
His gifts began making room for him as early as seven years old when he began ministering with Walt Whitman and The Soul Children of Chicago. His tenure with The Soul Children landed him a myriad of travel experiences both nationally and internationally, a feature on the Oprah Winfrey show, as well as the honor of performing with the likes of Mariah Carey, Michael Crawford, Neil Diamond, Kirk Franklin, Tremaine Hawkins, Gladys Knight and a host of other renowned artists.
The Purposeful Pastor
Daniel X. Smith availed himself to the expansion of his life purpose and affirmatively answered the call to ministry in February 2003 at the New St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago, Illinois. He moved up the ecumenical ranks in May 2007 when he was ordained and installed as Senior Pastor of New St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church. Understanding the importance of being an effective influencer and the imperativeness of diversifying his reach, Pastor Daniel X. Smith continued making his “calling and election” sure by completing a ministerial program of study at Living Word Christian Center School of Ministry in June of 2008. Additionally, he is currently enrolled in a Master of Divinity in Leadership program at Moody Bible Institute.
There is a universal knowing that every great leader and teacher is first a faithful follower and student of truth. So aside from his independent study and formal education, Pastor Daniel X. Smith has chosen to be divinely guided under the auspices of Archbishop William Hudson, III and Pastor Andria Hudson at Powerhouse Chicago.
The Faithful Family
Joining him in his membership at Powerhouse Chicago and assisting him in the fulfillment of his life's mission is his helpmeet, soulmate and “eternal love”, Kameithia De’Shauun Elery to whom he wed and became one with on August 7, 2005. From the abundance of their love they co-created their beautiful daughter, Emmyerie Danielle on September 15, 2006 and their debonair son, Josiah Ellery on April 19, 2009. Pastor Smith holds his family sacredly near, as he recognizes that family is the foundational support that keeps him anchored and simultaneously affords him the liberty to take all of who he is out into the world and show up as his divine purpose.
The World Influencer
There is no question about neither the magnitude of anointing that rests upon this great pontificator of the gospel, the musical prowess of this learned and accomplished Levite, nor the efficacious way in which his diligent and dedicated leadership yields undeniable results in the lives of others. Chiefly, his highest desire and his utmost longing is to equip, empower, encourage, and elevate every being he encounters to the highest and greatest expansion of themselves by keeping his light of servitude on. In doing so, he reminds them that as they serve from the love that they are, they, too are emanating as the “light of the world”; here to serve all and here to penetrate all darkness.
